Jonathan Pycock started Equine Reproductive Services in 1997 from scratch after becoming the only ‘real doctor’ in the team with a PhD from the Royal Veterinary College, London and an RCVS Certificate in 1991, followed an RCVS Diploma in Equine Stud Medicine in 1994. Jonathan was an RCVS Specialist in Equine Medicine (Reproduction) and has co-edited several equine veterinary textbooks and written many book chapters in major equine textbooks. He has spoken at all the major International equine veterinary congresses on 4 continents and yet you can still find him teaching undergraduates at Glasgow University and giving practical CPD to vets in the field. It goes without saying he is well travelled and well known in our field of expertise!
In 2013 Jonathan took a step back from leading us and is missed from this role however he has not given up supporting us in the practice and all of our profession as one of three equine claims consultants for the Veterinary Defence Society. Jonathan has also always found time to contribute to the popular press with articles for horse owners in the Horse and in the Horse & Hound.
Despite his many current roles Jonathan is President Elect of the British Equine Veterinary Association and we are all looking forward to his term as president and his congress in 2018.
Jonathan has a well recognised sense of humour and is an avid participant in many forms of outdoor pursuits, whether it be climbing a mountain or cycling long distances. We know Jonathan is pleased that two of his former colleagues James and Charlie are carrying on his practice, we know Jonathan that you will tell everyone you taught us both it all!
